ERA Here Today; Better Tomorrow.

Sandy Oestreich, our speaker, shared the history of the ERA movement from Alice Paul’s introduction of the amendment in 1923 to today. Senate Joint Resolution 1 (SJ Res 1) has been introduced into the US Senate to remove the deadline for the ratification of the ERA. Sandy’s call to action is to contact our Senators and tell them to co-sponsor SJ Res 1 and support women’s place in the US constitution. Sandy’s concluding statement to us on Tuesday night, “The US will truly become a Representative Democracy with the placement of the 28th amendment, ERA, into our constitution.”
